WVU Tech Professor to Study in Mexico

Jan Rezek, assistant professor of sociology, West Virginia University Institute of Technology, was recently accepted as one of six faculty members who will participate in a unique four-week summer exchange fellowship in Mexico.

This international faculty exchange program involves West Virginia University’s “Sister City” in Guanajuato.

During her month long visit, Rezek will have the opportunity to connect with sociology faculty and learn more about educational initiatives for Mexican women. “My mornings will be spent in language school and during the afternoons I will be collaborating with sociology professors from the University of Guanajuato,” Rezek said.

“I am truly grateful for this opportunity and am looking forward to being able to broaden international programs at WVU Tech upon my return. My interests are focused on women and youth and this experience will allow me to bring more diversity into the classroom setting,” Rezek added.

Dr. John P. David, chair of WVU Tech’s Department of Social Sciences and Public Administration, stated, “it is a tribute to Professor Rezek that she was selected for this competitive program and it reflects the quality of faculty at WVU Tech and in our department.”
