West Virginia University Institute of Technology’s fifth annual Otis K. Rice Lecture Series will feature Dr. Fred Barkey on Thursday, September 26 at 6 p.m. The event, sponsored by the West Virginia Humanities Council, is free and open to the public. Barkey’s lecture, entitled “Here Come the Boomer ‘Talys’: Italian Immigrants and Industrial Conflict in the Upper Kanawha Valley (1903-1917),” will be held in the WVU Tech Engineering Auditorium in Montgomery, West Virginia.

Science and Art Fair offers competitive challenges for high school and middle school students
West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech) in Montgomery will be the site for a West Virginia Science and Art Fair this fall for high school and middle school students in 22 West Virginia counties. The fair will provide the students opportunities to showcase their knowledge of Biology and Physical Sciences in display projects, a symposium, Olympiad events and art projects.
WVU Tech to Host WVU Coach Bob Huggins and Attorney James "Rocky" Gianola
West Virginia University Institute of Technology’s Department of Physical Education will host an athletic coaching education and sport management panel featuring two well-known West Virginia University alumni: Attorney James “Rocky” Gianola and Men’s Basketball Coach Bob Huggins on Wednesday, September 25 at noon in the Engineering Auditorium. The presenters will discuss sport law, athletic contracts and labor issues, legal issues facing athletic associations and conferences, collegiate coaching and careers in athletics. The presentation is sponsored in part by Summit Community Bank and is free and open to the public.
