West Virginia University Institute of Technology is pleased to announce the 2012 Alumni of the Year: Dr. Scott Glenn, ‘99, from the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences and Gene Morgan, ‘91, from the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences.
Glenn, a native of Pottstown, Pa., received his Regents Bachelor of Arts degree from WVU Tech in 1999. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration and a doctorate degree in education. During his years at Tech, Glenn was a member of the Golden Bears football team and holds the university record as WVU Tech’s All-Time Leading Rusher. He was inducted into the WVU Tech Hall of Fame in 2009. He has also served in the United States Marine Corps. His professional career has included coach, counselor and author. His most recent book entitled “The Triangle Plan: A Guide to a Successful Life Derived from Personal Experience” was published in 2011 with proceeds being donated to WVU Tech Athletics.
A native of West Virginia, Morgan is a 1991 graduate of Tech with a degree in mechanical engineering. Upon graduation he joined the Westinghouse Electric’s Power Generator Service Division as a field service engineer. During his more than 10-year career in field service engineering he has worked in 30 states and 11 countries. He has been the co-recipient of two US Patents, both of which were developed as service solutions to address consumer needs. He is now the director of field service marketing at Siemens Energy, Inc. in Orlando, Fla. Morgan currently serves on the WVU Tech Mechanical Engineering Industry Advisory Board.
Since 1949, it has been an institutional tradition to honor the Tech Alumni of the Year during Homecoming Weekend. To be selected for this honor, alumni must have achieved recognition in their chosen profession, have strong service commitment, and have given time, talent, and treasure to Tech by serving as a role model of loyalty and service for all alumni. On Friday, October 26, 2012, Glenn and Morgan will be recognized as the newest members of this distinguished group at the Alumni of the Year banquet in the Tech Center Ballroom.
