On Saturday, March 20th, WVU Tech will play host to the Central and Southern West Virginia Regional Science and Engineering Fair and Creative Arts Competition.
Students can participate in the following categories; investigatory projects, display projects, art exhibits, submitted paper, symposium and Olympiad Events.
In the investigatory projects division, students perform an experiment and then create a display explaining the experiment and its results. Winners in this division also have the opportunity to win a trip to the International Science Fair and Engineering Fair in San Jose, California, in May.
To participate in the fair, students must be in grades 9 – 12 and have not reached the age of 21 on or before May 1, 2010, and attend either public or private school or be home schooled.
The territory for this fair covers southern West Virginia from Charleston south to the border and include the following counties; Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Nicholas, Putnam, Raleigh, Wayne and Wyoming
To appear in the fair program, for most categories, applications are due by March 12. However, students can register at any time after that date, including the day of the fair.
