Dr. Guy Vitaglione named as Coordinator of Strategic Planning

Campus Provost, Dr. Scott Hurst, has announced that Dr. Guy Vitaglione has been named as Coordinator of Strategic Planning for WVU Tech.

In that role, Dr. Vitaglione will be responsible for the oversight of the strategic planning workgroups, working with the campus leadership to maintain continuity of the planning process, and disseminating information to the campus community as the process and plan unfolds.

Vitaglione has been a faculty member at WVU Tech since 1998. He was instrumental in bringing a full Psychology Bachelor’s degree program to the Montgomery campus and was made a department chair in 2008. Since then, his program has seen the largest enrollment growth of any program at Tech.

Vitaglione’s specialization is in social and developmental psychology. He teaches courses in personality, social psychology, children’s social-emotional development and psychological assessment. His most recent research project, with a group of students, examines personality predictors of online aggressive behaviors.

In 2001 Vitaglione won a university award for outstanding merit in teaching, research, and service, and in 2006 he was one of the winners of a state-wide EPSCoR research competition. From 2006-2008 he served as the Social Psychology Coordinator on the Convention Committee of the Eastern Psychological Association.

WVU Tech recently launched the beginning of a five-year strategic planning process. For additional information on Tech’s strategic planning visit: http://techprovost.wvutech.edu/strategic_planning.
