Construction on WVU Tech's Campus Continues

Progress on the West Virginia University Institute of Technology’s campus continued today as demolition of the former CoEd residence hall began early this morning. The 67,176 square foot building was built in 1969.

After two different structural assessments of the facility, it was determined that the facility would need to be razed and the lot repurposed. Plans are under way to develop the lot into a green space for additional campus activities, including the University’s growing intramurals program.

“We are excited about the continued progress on campus and look forward to the additional recreational space for our students,” explained WVU Tech CEO Carolyn Long.

The Tech Golden Bear Alumni Association will also be assisting the University in fundraising for a new campus gateway sign, which will repurpose 5,000 salvaged bricks from the CoEd residence hall.
